The real 'surprise surprise' is they keep letting P ig back in. :D |
They feel bad for him, he only has facefart friends.

I can see wanting to keep the account. I still have my FB account but I keep it totally locked down. No updates, no friends, nothing. This way, no one can attempt to fake an account in my name and say I do nefarious things with it... (for ransom or whatever). I can always point to mine an say, "Nope, this one's mine..." |
meh. I keep it to keep up with the kids and their curtain crawlers. And as kind of a challenge. But Tony's Fedex post did me in

Mine are way beyond FB for that. If I don't text them, they'd never know I existed. I'm going to have a Zoom call with the two different sides of my family today (maternal vs paternal). |
with friends like that..... Well... ya know.... :D

It's sad... I was hoping to be on "GETTR" as an alternative but, after some research, I've discovered its owners have ties to the CCP. So much for that, then. We'll see what Pres. Trump's Social Media account has to offer. |
Quote:
The CCP has been engaging in a high level disinformation campaign against Guo and almost had Trump convinced at one point. A lot of phony charges have been brought against him, and he was wanted by Interpol (at China's behest) at one time. |
Quote:
I'm tending to believe this position more. I think the person who said what I quoted before referenced only one source... a source with which he was a member (Rumble is the site). He claims that Pres. Trump is on Rumble but not Gettr. That said, I see Gettr is still being advertised on Newsmax etc. I haven't yet seen if Pres. Trump has a presence on it yet, but I'll check. Anyway, nevermind that, now. I'm off to the range again on Wed. to zero my RPR and be sure I'm good out to 100yds, and then I'll try for 200. I think I'll take the Long Range 201 course in May. Also get a little EDC Pistol practice, etc. Will post a range report after I'm done. |
And the Range report as promised.
It was a beautiful day out. Just warming up to 70˚F, I decided to zero in the RPR again. But I made some changes which helped. I moved the scope more forward on the picatiny rail so I'd be able to align right on the cheek stock piece instead of behind it. That gave me almost perfect eye relief. I could, literally, close my eyes for 5 seconds and be right on target again. I'm getting more comfortable making the adjustments on the scope for zeroing in. I got it to a point where I was able to get 3 shots in the black, but I know I'm still having "positional" issues where I'm just not quite getting a perfect cheek weld and a perfect stance that I can replicate. So my target accuracy is off slightly because of positioning. Still all of that 10 shot group was on target. The problem came when I switched to the lower targets. I had put 4 AP-2 targets in portrait mode on a large coroplaast board behind two furring strips. I shot the upper right first, and did some gross zero adjusting on that. Then I switched to the upper left target and that's where I hit in the black. Then, I moved to the lower left target and it seemed like I hadn't even zeroed the rifle at all. All down and to the left. My shooting buddies on the line had two suggestions: 1) Get that cheek alignment and stance down cold and don't move it. It appears I may be moving the stock out of place on my shoulder when I switch down to the lower targets. Get that placement down cold and keep it there before zeroing again. 2) The load may be a bit much. I'm using 175gr Match Grade .308 Win. They are suggesting a lighter load (maybe 168gr). I'm not so sure about that one. If I can, I'd prefer to stay at 175gr. But I'm more than happy to get a box or two of 168 just to check it out. But, eventually, I'd want to go back to 175gr. I ordered one of those Bipod easy levers so that I can keep the swivel much tighter than it has been (that's been a problem). So things are looking much better. I'll be focusing on the RPR on the range now, but I will begin AR15 Build #2 starting in February. Hopefully, I'll also be taking my "Long Range 201" course in May and start to get beyond 100 yards. A good day was had by all! |
We used 168 grain in the Corps and I've stuck with it for the most part
|

I've shot accurately and consistently to a 1,000 yards with 168. |

Bipod Lever installed. It does make a difference. Will order some 168 Shortly. Hope to start Build #2 within the coming week. |

Short of the custom Lake City we used, Black Hills match 168 grain is the best I've found for factory ammo

I've seen Federal Matchking 168gr on Ammoseek for as low as $1.68 per round. I'll check them out. |

I went on Gunbroker the other day and found a merchant who advertised 168Gr .308 for $14.95 per 20 rnd box. I ordered two boxes. They arrived about 1hr ago. There were no markings on the box or the round itself to indicate it was 168 Gr, as opposed to a different sized .308, They looked/measured exactly the same as my 175Grs, except they were not HPBT but where BTFMJ. I had to pull out my precision kitchen scale and weigh each. They both weighed exactly the same, 26 grams. There is nothing indicating that they are 168Gr except the advertising on the website. So, I'm left to wonder if they are, in fact, 168Gr or maybe 175 or something different. I guess I'll find out this Wed. (02/23) at my next trip out to the range. We'll see if the recoil feels different or my accuracy improves. If not, then I'll stick with my 175s. I should be able to start my 2nd AR build within the next two weeks. I'll keep you posted. It may be all I can do for now, as I just got hit with a nasty expenditure, courtesy of my Homeowner's Insurance policy. My 19y/o roof must be fully replaced within one year or they will cancel me. I'm looking into a USDA Sect. 504 Guaranteed Loan/Grant to help out. Will file an AAR after Wed. 2/23. |
It’s difficult to trust gunbroker right now, way too many scams on there. No markings are definitely reloads and who knows what they actually used. You could sacrifice one round and pull the bullet and powder , then measure both and see weights. [emoji2375]
What’s your next AR build going to be? I’ve been hit with a roof replacement too about two years ago and I’m still paying for it. Sucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I might just try that, but first I'll send a few down range and see if the recoil is any different (or my accuracy). Quote:
Same as #1 but with a different lower (this one was $85.00 as I recall, as opposed to an Anderson which was $47.00 at the time). Those were the days, yeah..... I also have to scope it as well, so I'm probably going to look at a FFP scope in the same price range as the Bushnell 3 x 12 SFP I have on AR #1. I don't think I'm ready for an EoTech, just yet. I'm looking at a Monstrum G2 6x24 50 FFP. Quote:
Yes it does. That's why I'm looking into a USDA Sec. 504 guaranteed loan/grant pkg. We'll see if they come through. If not, I may have to take out a Home Equity Loan to get it all done. I don't want to (the house is fully paid for), but if I have to.... |
Take a look at Athlon Optics… excellent scope for the money.

I was looking at Athlons (bttbbob "over there" was going to sell me one). Unfortunately they are still beyond my price point. I was looking for a FFP scope in the $240 range. I found one. BTW, if I didn't mention it, I did not get to JTAC in Feb as they were doing maintenance to the range on the day I was scheduled to go. Will try again this month. |
What did you end up with?

More than likely, I *will* end up with this one: https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-r7nb...694163.jpg?c=2 Monstrum G2 6-24x50 First Focal Plane FFP Rifle Scope Amazon is running a special. |
Hmmm, never heard of it. I’ll check it out a bit later.

Scope received this evening. Looks quite well built Came with its own mount(looks like a Burris PEPR mount), and a green illuminated reticle (battery powered). 6x24x50 FFP Scope but MOA (not MRAD). I'll deal with that. It also comes with built in lens caps and all the hardware and allen keys to make it work. I look forward to mounting it. I should start the build hopefully before the month ends. I've been working on applying to the USDA for a Sec. 504 loan/grant RD assistance to get my roof done (and some other things). If granted, I can get up to a $7500.00 grant + a $20,000.00 loan to fix the house. We'll see. |

I prefer Mills….. but, MOA works well enough for government work.

I'll make it work, one way or another. Should get started (hopefully) on the 2nd build soon. Being delayed a little while I work on all the bureaucracy needed to get this USDA Sec. 504 loan/grant to get my roof and HVAC replaced. |
You need your AC replaced as well? Hope you get the loan soon.

Well, technically, I don't need to replace the HVAC. It has been working pretty well after I spent $1500.00 almost two years ago on a new evaporator coil in the air handler. But the general unit is the original one from construction (19+ years old) and it could go at any second. It also produces too much moisture and I find myself vacuuming out the lines so that it doesn't leak all into the closet, etc. It's time to get that checked out as well. The Sec. 504 loan/grant program offers up to $20,000 in loans and a lifetime $7500.00 grant to a homeowner for such repairs, if you qualify. And, apparently, I do, so we'll see. |
Yeah, that’s a good run for a unit. Hope you get what you need bro.

Roofing Update: Well, good news/bad news. Bad news is, the USDA changed the rules (or, more accurately, failed to advise me of the rule) regarding income levels. Apparently, to qualify for a Sec. 504 loan for just "Home repairs," they use the "Very low" income standard and not the "low" income standard. Sadly, that basically prices me out of the program (I make too much money even in retirement). So I'll be withdrawing my application.
That said, when one door closes, another opens! The good news being, I now qualify for a "reverse mortgage" loan and I'm in the process of doing that. It would, actually, allow me access to more cash (especially since I have 100% equity in my house). I"ll be honest. I'm a tad apprehensive of "Reverse mortgage" loans, but I guess as long as I stay way ahead of the interest and keep whacking away at the principal, I'll be OK. I can get the roof and HVAC done, and I even have an opportunity to go for SOLAR if I want to. I haven't made a decision on that just yet but I'm seriously thinking about it. I think it makes more sense to go SOLAR if I know I'll be here for quite some time (and I expect to be). It might help me if I decide to do an "electric car" at some point. We'll see. The firm doing the roof would be the same one doing the SOLAR, so that helps a bit. No progress yet on build #2, but understandable given what's going on in re: the roof, etc. I'll keep ya posted. Hope you had a safe Easter. |
Good luck with everything. I just recently taught a long range class this weekend. It was a blast as always. I've decide to get another long another rifle. I'll post and talk about in another thread.
Also, we ordered an electric car for my wife. It's a Ford Mach -E. It's awesome car. I'm not so much a tree hugger as I love the technology. And, they're fast! |
