I've carried since 1972. Govt issue .45 from 72-74, my Colt from 1974 until an unfortunate divorce settlement in 1987. Then my Glock 17 until recently when I got my DW Vbob. That's my Kramer IWB #3.

Long time and nice pic, Ron.

I'm intrigued by the grips, but can't grok them from the cell phone pic.

What are they?

Tom

ronpaul50 01-02-2013 12:02 PM

Gabon Ebony from Sarge. Black on black. Belt and holster also black.

guitarsandguns 01-15-2013 12:03 AM

The wife and I are taking our CC class later this month. Hopefully I'll have the permit soon.

DrHenley 01-15-2013 10:28 PM

I'm on my second permit, which was issued in 2009. I don't remember when I got the first one.

This is my current carry rig...only one day old...

http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...pictureid=1079

Goes in a cargo pocket.

I carried a Charter Arms Bulldog first, then tried carrying a full sized 1911, but that didn't work. So I got a Sig Fastback Carry, but then downsized to the Sig Ultra Compact.

Tango3 01-21-2013 10:38 AM

Have CC'd for a year and a half; rotate between a Kimber SIS Pro, Eclipse Pro, Raptor Pro (all in .45ACP), ECO, and hopefully soon, a Baer HW Mono Commanche.

Carry in these OWB holsters: BiancheriUSA black elephant pancake style holsters with matching belt. These are awesome, good looking well made, and the best bang for the buck that I've seen on the market. Turn around time from placing the order to having them in my mitts: one week! For my less often CC'd full-sized 1911's I use a Wilson Lo-Profile pancake.

E.

Forgot to respond to this, Ron. Your reply get me to looking around at ebony and I've got Zane making me some Gabon Ebony grips for my DW Guardian Duce.

I think ColMike had some horn grips that look similar. I really like the look of black on black.

I'm a simple sort of guy :)

I've had mine for over 20 years; P228, full size 1911, P229, and my fav ECO.

MSNM 01-27-2013 10:47 AM

i started to carry the POLY judge, 2 inch IWB with a talon holster, i read all of these great reviews on how easy it is to carry blah blah, but i am a small guy. 5'5...and not so easy as my kel tec pf9 LOL. i sold the 9 to a buddy in need, to get my new toy. i am going to bump my pants size up a bit and see. i really loved my 9 and will get another, i know i know, why carry a cannon? im moving back to cali, so my tx ccw is worthless now...just want it for backpacking ect. just in case. but i plan on more hog hunting with my G20. hehe. love seeing peoples faces when they see me flip the switch on a hog with a 10mm.

WVBubba 01-31-2013 12:42 AM

Had my CCW for about 10 years....carried a springfield XDm .40 till I got my Kimber Super Carry both in Crossbreed SuperTuck....wife has had hers for about a year...carries a S&W Shield in a IWB rig

Glad you reminded me John, Mine expires this month also.

Just mailed my renewal payment in and get new permit couple days later.

Hey Ellison when does yours come due?:p

deputybpfife 02-03-2013 11:33 PM

I plan on getting mine in the next month or so.

Kadonny 02-04-2013 01:18 PM

Yup, had it for almost 10 years now...time to renew in December 2013 for another 5 years.

douglas_knott 02-04-2013 01:29 PM

Does anybody have, or know whre I can find, state-by-state and/or county-by-county statistics of the percentage of citizens with their CCWs? One of my friends told me that they thought that our county of Phelps has 3%. I was just curious more than anything.

I hope not. Nobody's business but yours.

These statistics are publicly available as raw numbers, just wasn't sure about percenatges. I was wondering how many in a room of 100 were possibly carrying.

Jubz 03-01-2013 02:47 AM

Got my CA CCW over 2 years ago and just renewed it a few months ago for another 2 years. Sent in my app/fingerprints/etc for the Utah and Arizona non-resident CCW's and should be getting them in a couple of months, so I can carry in 36 states. I do travel often enough for my work.

For the few who don't know about this CCW reciprocity map by state:
http://www.usacarry.com/concealed_ca...city_maps.html

And here's a CCW app that I have on my Android smartphone, pretty handy:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...J5YW4uY2N3Il0.

Current EDC is a Glock 23; sometimes a G27 depending on the needs. But this will soon change to a CBOB and have already ordered IWB and OWB holsters.

Right of the mag pouch is a Taser C2, for those less-than-lethal situations.

A good question to keep the bad guys guessing about, imho. I've had my permit for a couple of years now and should've pulled the trigger on it long ago. First five-year renewal comes up in May of '16, I believe.

wheelyfun44 06-15-2013 11:05 PM

Permit for concealed carry is not necessary in Vermont!!

I do, however, have permits for NH and CT, which enables me to carry in many states....unfortunately, there are many "commie" states in the Northeast, which prevent me from carrying where I most need to....large urban areas.

CrackerKen 07-13-2013 09:55 PM

Yep, I have one. I got my FL CWFL in 1993. In addition, several years ago I got my retired LEO credentials (when the agency I retired from started issuing them), and I am qualified (and certified annually, at least) under the LEOSA of 2004, also known as HR218. So, I have what amounts to a 50 state CCW permit, even though there are some states where I'd be reluctant to carry, like NJ, NY, and IL (I don't plan on going there anyway). In FL, if you have a CWFL, you don't have to go through the waiting period to buy a firearm, however, if you are LEO, or retired LEO with ID, you have to wait.

My EDV varies, depending on what I'm doing and my clothing - anything from a Keltec P3AT pocket pistol, up to my 1911, to include a S&W M&P 40 Shield, a S&W 642 snubby, or a Glock 27.

Horse'nround 01-01-2014 11:02 PM

I honestly can't remember when I started carrying. Used to open carry a Ruger security six to go snake hunting with friends at sixteen. Went in the Navy at 19 and when I landed in Wa. state in 78' got my 1st CCW. So what's that Hmmm... 36? To damn long ago to remember... anyway I've always had a soft spot for the 1911, packed a variety of iron but always come back to the best.
EDC - DW Guardian
BBQ - DW CBOB
Tool box Mimber Eclipse II
Bug - Sig P938 Equinox
Boot - Cheap 22 wheelie...

http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/...r/P1000993.jpg

sorry I will have to update my file photo to include Holster gear.

DrHenley 01-02-2014 08:02 AM

I guess I should update my entry...

The SIG Fastback didn't last too long as my carry gun because it wouldn't quite fit in a cargo pocket in a usable position. So I got a SIG Ultra Carry which fits perfectly. Here it is in the cargo pocket rig. The foam keeps it from shifting and prevents printing. The result is amazingly inconspicuous since there is no discernible outline of anything in the cargo pocket.

http://www.cotep.org/forum/picture.p...&pictureid=708

Note that due to the magwell, a Checkmate 8 round mag barely protrudes - just enough to make it easy to seat fully. All my full sized mags work flawlessly, so I never use Officer mags in it. Without a base pad, an Officer mag can't easily be seated anyhow.

I carry 3 spare mags in the opposite cargo pocket.

Not only a CCW permit holder....but I am an Instructor.

edgehill 04-12-2014 09:46 PM

My wife and I have had our CWFL for almost four years. I carry a Berratta Px4 in .40. I also carry a Kershaw Tanto Blur and Syderco Perrin Street Bowie.

Occasionally I'll swap the Street Bowie out for a Hen&Rooster 8-inch Bowie.

My wife carries a S&W Bodyguard.

Have a Concealed Weapon License here in Florida for a decade. Have other states, too. Here in Florida it is clearly printed as a license, not a permit. My EDC has been a Glock 17, though now that I have had all but one of the surgeries I need, I am able to transition back to 1911's. No surprise I carry an array of Springfield 1911's, my EDC guns are all plain parkerized, low profile or no sights, rough grip texture. You guys have me slowly motivating to a DW Valor, though when I acquire that 1911 it will have night sights and grips that I will grind to fit my hands, especially the mag release.

GD2A 04-13-2014 03:07 PM

I hot my first CCW back in CT in '97. Got my FL one in January '13. EDC is a S&W 442 but I'm trying to carry a Commander ... trying. The little Smith is so easy!

MPDC 06-11-2014 04:56 PM

Yes, Florida Resident License. I carry either an XD-M or XDSC, depending on my uniform of the day, LOL. Both on 9MM.

AdamG247 (Navy-Ret) 07-06-2014 11:29 AM

I have 3, Virginia, Texas and Florida. I was carrying a Sig Nightmare, then I acquired a new VBOB in black duty finish. So, now carry one or the other. Mood dependent. I usually wear a shoulder rig or OWB leather holsters. Left handed.

Photo to come. Experiencing temporary technical difficulties. Another words Computer smarter than user!

T.S. 07-06-2014 12:13 PM

I've had my Florida Concealed Weapon and Firearm License since July of 2012, but carried off duty as an Ohio LEO for a long time before that.

I carry what I carried as my off duty carry back then, a 1973 Colt Combat Commander in .45 acp with Federal 230 Grain Hydra-Shok Jacketed Hollow Points.

This is a photo of it in my "Jackass" Shoulder Holster Rig from back in the "good Ol' day" ... :D

LittleGator 07-09-2014 04:03 PM

Florida CWFL since 2008 (should have gotten it long ago). Now carry whenever/wherever legal. For a quiet day in the office, I will carry the Kahr CM9 in a Panther IWB.

If out and about the rotation consists of the Sig P220 SAS, Sig P229 SAS or Glock 19. The P229 and Glock reside in Panthers. I have a Blade-Tec for the P220.

I have an embarrassing confession to make: I purchased a SA Champion Loaded a couple of years ago, and even have two beautiful Milt Sparks holsters for it. I have shot it enough at the range, and it is uber reliable. But I just can't get past that thumb safety thingy. I wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat, and wondering what if I really really need it pronto and I swipe at it, and miss? Just haven't trained enough with it to feel comfortable.

Regards,

Paladin1 07-09-2014 04:48 PM

Another Florida CCW permit holder here. I obtained mine about 7 years ago. I carry either my Dan Wesson Guardian 1911 or Springfield XDs if I'm traveling light.

Hodawg 07-09-2014 05:29 PM

Been carrying since January of 1979. Dang I'm old.

Run through a few IDPA matches with it. You really find out about a gun that way!

BlackKnight 10-19-2014 04:29 PM

Another thread I failed to respond to. What the heck. Better late than never. Beside we have some new members. Maybe they'll chime in as well.
Anyway, while NJ is a "shall issue" state in reality it's a "no issue." Several lawsuits have been filed throughout the years and each time it's gets dismissed or the current process re-affirmed.
Anyway, since I'm LEO I get to carry and thanks to H.R. 218, for life and in all 50 states.
So I'm been carrying since 1995. Below is my EDC. Missing is a Swiss Army Knife with a handcuff key. For off duty it's the same except for the .38 and one less magazine.
