@ Clyde, LOL! If you don't know about the zombies, you won't be ready for them. A favorite book of mine is by James Wesley Rawles. The title is "Patriots". You can get it from kindle or wherever. Good read, you'll enjoy it... then we'll talk about doomsday.

I was out straightening out my shop today, and decided to take some pics. Don't mind the mess. I was doing a little rearranging in the process.

Big Smoke, I see that brass picker upper thingy in your photo. Does it really work at picking up the spent casings?

People look at you strange when you first get to the range, but once everyone sees what it is, and how it works, they all want to know where to get one. |

That IS where I got it from, but since I have found it at other places also. I forget the name of the company, but if you buy it from Dillon, it ships from a nut company. Apparently, it is for picking up nuts off the ground, and can be used for brass.

Digging through some old boxes and look what I found. My, how the Speer Manual has grown since the old days:

My Small Bench
My bench is home built, although I did buy some legs from Amazon. I think I used one sheet of 3/4" plywood and a couple of 2x4 studs.
I only have one press - a Lee Turret Press, and have turret disks for .45, 9mm, .308, and .223. I measure powder for my pistols with a Lee Auto Pro Disk thing and with a Hornady electronic powder measure for the long guns. I'm not a real high volume reloader - maybe a few hundred rounds a week, and it works great for me. I do wish I had more storage space. Next thing I'll probably do is get rid of those ridiculous shelves and build something onto the wall. http://i1294.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7b7accea.jpg |
Nice work area and I agree that wall shelves would be better. More room on the bench that way.

If it works and your satisfied, then it's all good! Tom |
I'm probably going to add a redding t7 and a small tumbler for small batchs but I really don't want a progressive press. I don't burn alot of ammo, maybe 200 rounds a week, and I enjoy the process. I load for 8 different handgun calibers and do alot of small batchs, 200 rounds, and I like to try different loads in all of those. I have a pretty good inventory so I really just load what I shoot. If I load rifle it's range ammo, maybe not bench rest stuff but close and my rock chukker is good for that. I also shoot revolver more than anything else so I can be very flexable with loads, don't worry about feeding issues. Don't need to pick up brass either.

Made some dummy rounds and did the plunk test/hand cycle test. Have about 45 bucks in material for the bench and shelves, 35 in wiring. Good deal Mike, looks great!
"I have the bat in case the wife penetrates the perimeter".....funny funny funny |
I like the spitoon but you would think an electrician would have a nicer light fixture.

Nice pig!
Shaping up to be a great man cave! I see you got toonage... that's a requirement. Now for lots of boolits! I'm in Ft. Lauderdale with Gail and Kate (Gail has a government paid conference to be at so Kate and I tagged along). We drove down and briefly thought about trying to drop in, but it was too far out of the way, and after seeing that picture of you in Ell's other post... well... Anyway, we're having fun poking around Ft. Lauderdale! Boats |
What's the cuspidor for? I use mine for cigars butts.

It's been a year since a post in this thread so I will bring it back to life with an updated picture of my setup after a few additions and cleanup. I got a used set of drawers from work and installed them on my reloading bench. It worked perfectly on my lower shelf with no modification and its purpose is to store my extra primers and powder. I did move my homemade wet tumbler over a bit as well. So lets see some more bench setups......I've always find everyone's setups interesting. |
What do you reload with the chain saw? funny
nice!! |
I will be firing up that chainsaw this month. Still have a mess in my backyard from when my contractor cleared some additional trees before my house arrived. Got to clear an area for a playhouse/swing set for my little girl that I'm going to make.
My father, father-in-law and myself cleared a butt-ton of trees in prep of my house construction. My Stihl has served me well. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 |
