Kelgin Desert Storm Knife

Over in Hoss' Karma thread, I mentioned that I have a Kelgin Desert Storm knife. Ken Largin made these knives to support soldiers serving in Desert Storm, but ran into distribution problems. If I recall correctly, Colin Powell suggested that he give them to POWs when they were released, so Ken did. He also offered the knife to the public. As a combatant in DS, I appreciated his gesture and bought one of the knives to support Ken.

TUFF-IRON 01-23-2012 01:18 AM

I have many knives but this one is a custom blade that my friend Mr. Bart Draper and I designed together and he built it for me. I hounded him for years to build me one and he finally broke down and did it . He told me it is the only one like it so that makes it very special to me. His Father and brother was also knife makers and they worked with Gil Hibbens in the early days. This is an heirloom as far as I'm concerned

Are Japanese kitchen knives allowed?

Tadatsuna chukabocho and Hiromoto gyuto, both sharpened and rehandled by Dave Martell with spalted walnut and mosaic center pin. Sharp!

AutoMag 02-03-2012 08:36 AM

A couple that my son gave me. His company does a lot with Husqvarna so they sent him some little pocket knives!!

Have you ever seen any of these??

Can you guess what they are called?

They were made back in the 70's by Harry Sanford, the father of the 44 AutoMag pistol!!

AutoMag 02-04-2012 11:29 AM

Mike, the large Latama switchblade in the center I sold about a year ago for $1800.00!! It was probably worth more but for a $10.00 investment it was good for me!!!:D

Snipersnest 02-04-2012 05:29 PM

Zilmo 02-05-2012 04:19 PM

I like it! I had a green one like that about forty years ago that was unfortunately stolen from me.

AutoMag 02-08-2012 02:21 PM

My newest acquisition!!

This is what is called a "sterile" Benchmade AFO 9050 auto knife. It is an older Government contract knife made with no marking at all!!!

The story I have on these sterile versions is they were intended for covert Special Ops missions where the nationality of the operators would be best left unknown.

I have one of those, (not sterile) that I carried when I was on the job. Very handy knife. Mine has been through the mud, the blood, the guts and the beer and it's still a worthy tool.
