Matched set of gray and cream box elder burl grips for a 1911 knife and pistol combo.

Those grips look great. I think some of my 1911's need some updating....
|
Never hurts to update. I've got enough of the gray and ivory box elder to make two more sets.

These are the fiddleback maple grips from post #91 mounted on a stainless gun. They will pop a lot more against a black frame.

Nice work, Adam, you have some true works of art, there. I see you don't special order grips anymore, but it's probably just as well -I think I'll just know it when I see it!

I used to do a lot of special orders, but learned quickly a few bad apples spoil the bunch. From now on it will be "what you see is what you get". Hate to be like that... |

Do you think you have access to a piece of wood like this? I've seen spalted maple and similar wood grips with black etching like this, but only in pictures, and never for sale for a Vbob. It's the most pleasing grip to my eye of all, and I would not only like to be put on a waiting list, but will pre-pay if that would help any. |
Well, as long as you don't call me Alan again, I think I might be able to find some more of that spalted maple. :)
I can't commit right now because I'm so behind, but ask me again in about April and I should be ready by then. |
Sorry! I thought I saw your name (maybe even upside down) earlier in the thread and must have mis-remembered! I'm in no hurry, April (or later) will be fine. If you'd like a deposit or full payment, PM me your info and I'll get it to you.
|
No problem. I was just messing with you. Better not send a deposit this soon or I'll forget who it was from or what it was for. Just shoot me an email or post in April and I will get you taken care of. Also, if you use Facebook you can like us there. I post updates on the Facebook page so you'll be in the loop as far as when I will begin taking orders before everyone else.

Some new satin finish desert ironwood burl that I've recently finished.

Man, that wood is absolutely beautiful!

Are any available??? |
Irish Bog Oak
Awhile (30 minutes) ago, I was speaking with a Mr. Kelly at the Colt Custom Shop. He tells me that I may get my Commander back with the tactical package in February. In discussing the grips he asked me if I had ever seen any in Irish Bog Oak. I have looked at all my links and can't seem to locate any. Any of my COTEP siblings know of any grip makers offering Irish Bog Oak?

Olympus, you are a master of your craft. I find myself staring at your creations over and over again. Truly beautiful and unique color options. Its hard to pick my favorite but I really admire those Gray/Ivory Box Elder Burl grips you posted awhile ago.
I know you're swamped and not accepting orders but if you ever get some Black/Ivory Burl in any wood species keep me in mind. I'd love to order a couple pairs. |
