My M1A Scout.
So as not to detract from Mike's (jmlutz) thread I decided to start this thread.
As most of you know he asked my opinion on scoping out his M1A Scout. Since I have one as well this was the push I needed to do my own. So after some research I ordered Leupold QRW rings and a Leatherwood scope. The rings came in last week and the scope today. I managed to install the scope tonight. Tomorrow I'm going to sight it in. I have to say so far I'm impressed with the scope. Looks and feels sturdy and the glass is as clear as some of the high end scopes. Range report tomorrow. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...pscw7dstvc.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psbjdgadd3.jpg |
That's great Tony! I can't wait on your range report, I haven't gotten mine mounted yet. Congratulations my friend.

Sweet setup, congrats Tony!

Congrats Tony.
You are the man, if Mayla caught me putting guns on her dining room table, my ass would get handed to me  |
Very nice !

Yes nice indeed brother

Looks good, look forward to the range report

Top notch......the Scout is definitely the way to go. Tons of opinions on glass for them, looking forward to hearing how that scope worked for you.

Dialed in.
So I go to the range to zero in my rifle. I used three bullseye targets. Once I thought I had it dialed in I put up a VTAC target. I didn't have access to a 100 yard range so I did at 50. I know that if I hold true at 50 and hits low about an inch then I'll be true at a 100. I wasn't looking to make this a tack driver. That's what my 700 is for.
So when I start taking at couple of shots to the head I noticed I was a little high, hence the three shots above the head. I came to realize I forgot to zero at the highest setting (7). Once I figured it out the hole you see on the bottom is three shots. I shot from the 50 prone with a bipod and a sand bag. It's on the money! The center is CQB I did at 10 yards. I held at the top of the square and hit center. At CQB distance you have to dial down to the lower setting (2). The glass is very clear. Easy to acquire the reticle whether you're prone or in a CQB stance. I equate the scope to some of the high end ones I've used. Verdict: I highly recommend the scope and so far very happy with it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...psajkalgdp.jpg |
That works! Well done Sir, nice set up.

Not unless they really, really deserve it. It's bad enough being shot I assume, but to the heuvos?
