My first AR-15...
2 Attachment(s)
I finally pulled the trigger, I couldn't pass the opportunity to get a quality-made, top of the line AR.
Spike's Tactical rifle, custom built by a friend who's an armorer at Spike's, and my shooting buddy. Loaded with all sorts of goodies that I can't even explain to you because I'm new to AR-15s. But it has the best components in it, my friend has access to everything at dealer cost and he knows his stuff. Pics |
Free floating barrel, entended bolt release, a red dot, and some sort of custom trigger.
Looks nice. Should be a tack driver. Post a range report. |

I want to add an extended charging handle and an end plate swivel quick detach. |
If I had friends like that I would be broker than I already am! Looks sweet!

Nice rifle Pedro, congrats!

Congrats Pedro. Mighty fine rifle there.

Congrats. Looks sweet!!!
|
VERY nice ... congrats !!
|
Thank you guys.
From what my friend tells me, Spike's Tactical also makes some of the lightest ARs in the market. It's not a featherweight for sure but I'll trust him on that. The rifle handles well, points great, and dry firing it shows a trigger that's crisp and short, very nice trigger feel. Range report soon! |
Spikes is a great Brand.

Spike's Tactical AR Range report
The rifle performed flawlessly, not a single hiccup. It was already "broken in" by the previous owner who, from what I'm told, put 50 rounds through it max. The red dot was already zeroed in, but I think it can be dialed in just a bit more. I also need to zero in the mbus sights so that the cowitness is perfect. Hitting a torso metal plate standing off-hand at 50 yards was a piece of cake. Hitting an 18" gong at 175 yards was a non-issue as well. We switched the gong to an 8" one and that took stabilizing/resting the rifle but still hitting it. Hitting the same torso at 200 yds proved a bit more difficult since the red dot does not provide any magnification and at that distance the dot fully covered the target. Hence why I think I still need to dial in the dot a tiny bit more but the rifle performed flawlessly nonetheless. No pictures or video I'm sorry. Plus all the targets were the steel kind so no holes to talk about, just ding all day long! I'm extremely pleased with my Spike's Tactical AR. Amazingly lightweight and incredibly accurate. Also, it was fun to clean my first AR ever last night. I ended up ordering through Amazon a bcg scraper tool and Slip2000 carbon killer, from the reviews seems to be an amazing carbon remover. I also included an AR chamber brush as I don't have that as well. Overall an excellent rifle that I got for a very good price. Now, gotta get some serious training with it. Standby (Will Farrugia at Okeechobee Shooting Sports) seems to have an amazing rifle course put together. Soon enough... |
 Sounds like it was a good day ! http://www.cotep.org/forum/images/icons/icon14.gif

Congrats now you need some original Stoner 30 mags, about 8 cans of ammo,
And a out door shooting range. We expect Dirty Range Report by August 5th no excuses, unless your wife says so lol lol lol Clyde |
Excellent report Sir. Do you happen to know the barrel's twist rate? 1-7, 1-8, or 1-9?
|
I'm positive spike's uses 1:7 twist for all their ARs
|
Ok 1-7. Then you need to feed it heavy pills. What weight projectiles were you shooting ? You will get the best accuracy with 69-75 grain projectiles.
|
72 gr. BTs
