Hand stippling - part 1

Unfortunately Brownells discontinued their three punch metal stippling set a number of years ago. The set #080-717-000 consisted of a chisel, 60* punch, and 80* punch. I used them to stipple a Colt MKIV Series 80, FN HBi-Power MKIII, and FM M90 Detective.

Never having done this type of work I obtained some scrap frames and slides from cut up police confiscations and practiced. Once I felt I had developed the requisite skills I moved on to my guns. Here's the results:

First, the Colt

Very nice! Have any good closeups?

Dave,

All the stippling was done back in the 1995 time frame.

Shadow,

Not on line where they can be linked here. Best shot here showing the resultant texture mix of the three punches is that rear quarter shot of the Browning Hi-Power.

I tried it once. Not so good. LOL

Your not using the right tools......the meat tenderizer is the right tool for the job. :D

A small cheese grater may work too.

Nicely done Bob. How long did it take to do that? Looks tedious.

Mike, those were done a decade ago and consumed the better part of a two months in my spare time. That's counting practice on some scrap frames and slides I honed my technique on.

Looks like practice makes perfect Bob:) Mike

Bob you did one hell of a nice job. I wish I had the time and scrap parts to learn on. Well done!!
