First Custom Carry Range Trip
So I took the new CC to the range today, unfortunately my son could not make it so I had to go solo today.
Les Baer Custom Carry with 1.5 Indoor range. 200 rounds for Winchester White Box. 6 magazines 2-Les Baer, 2-Kimpro, 2-ACT Shot at three distances 7, 15, and 25 yards. The gun has an incredible tight lock-up. I had problems seeing the front sight as the lighting was low but not so low that the tridium kicked in. The trigger brakes without any creep but it seams to be a bit heavy. Pic before the shooting session, mag's left to right ACT, Kimber, Baer: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s.../LBRANGE01.jpg 48 Rounds at 7 yards: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s.../LBRANGE02.jpg Next 48 rounds at 15 yards I had a number of flyers here as I think that I was hurrying my shots: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s.../LBRANGE03.jpg 8 rounds at 25 yards: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...BRANGE04-1.jpg Unloaded the remainder of the rounds at 15 yards: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s.../LBRANGE05.jpg Obligatory dirty gun pic. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s.../LBRANGE06.jpg No failures of any kind the gun ran like butter. The gun is more accurate than I will ever be, all I need is to have rounds hit center mass and this gun does just that. I am one happy camper. Sorry for the cell phone pic's. |
Glad you're happy with it, Mike. Congratulations on the new purchase. I wanted desperately to buy a Baer a few years ago but found them so tight I wasn't strong enough to rack the slide :(
Enjoy. And shoot safe. J |
Congrats Mike, thanks for the RR.

Nice range report.

Pretty good shooting Mike!!!:)

Thanks guys.
The worst of the trip is that as I was walking out the door my grandson asked if I would open up some dvd's that we had just bought him at Sam's Club. I ended up getting one deep paper cut across the the pad of my shoot'n finger. The finger hurt like heck toward the end of the shooting session. I am really liking this gun in that it really has a nice balance to it. |
Good deal Mike!!:)
Now you know good and well that you cannot say no to your grandson!!!:D:D Within reason of course!!:) |
Congratulation and thanks for the range report! Mike

Thanks guys I did take the gun to the range today and went through another 200 round, so now I have 400 rounds through it.
I would say that the trigger did get better toward the end of the session. But I did notice that there is a lot of travel on the trigger. The 200 rounds that I went through today did so without one problem. I did have some operator error in that I would hold the trigger in some not letting the trigger reset then I would try and fire it and of course no joy. I ran the same magazines that I used last time but I added 3 more mags to the mix. They were Kimber 8 round flush fit mags. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0525-00122.jpg Like I said above absolutely no problems with the gun. What surprises me is that using 4 different types of mags an not one hiccup. I had another 100 rounds with me but the gun ran so well I did not see any reason to run that ammo just to prove the gun's reliability, plus the wife was getting antsy. So I brought the gun home for some cleaning. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0525-00123.jpg I pulled it all apart: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0525-00124.jpg The ACW 1911 Takedown Tool makes it a breeze to take the gun down. I did notice a couple of things on the gun. The first being that the breach face has some gouging: http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0525-00128.jpg I do not believe that this will affect function but being the anal guy that I am it is not sitting well with me. One other thing that I noticed, but did not take a picture of, was on the bottom of the cutout just above the sear spring slot is cut jagged almost like the machining operation was truncated to soon. Again not a function thing but makes me hesitate and think. I did adjust the trigger and took a lot of the travel out of the pull and I am much more happy with the resulting snap. I think that I can get a bit more out of it but I want to see how it feels on my next trip to range. None the less I had a fun shooting the gun and will enjoy so in the future. |
