Large Magnum Primers in 45ACP
I bought what I thought were LPP, but turned out to be magnum primers. Everything I've read seems to agree that they are OK for 45ACP.
Just wanted to check before I start sticking them in... |
Depends on the brand. Some magnum primer just have thicker cups. Some have a little more brisance. Some have a LOT more brisance. The 45 ACP has a large margin of error and is not susceptible to the pressure spike problems of say a 40 S&W.
Long story short, I use magnum TulAmmo primers in 45 ACP and can't tell the difference...(I scored a case of 5000 cheap :)) |
No worries, you will not know the difference, I too was curious so I loaded some Mag and regular primers and tested on the chrony and there was nothing exciting there. I have loaded them before and had no issues with the 1000 rounds I shot up with them. I still use them time to time when I am in a pinch.....load em up and enjoy!

Don't listen to the Dr. and donut boy...you need to send those primers to me ASAP, I'll use them for you! Hehehe j/k. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Ell was able to get a squib 3/4 down the barrel with a magnum versus 1/2 way with a standard...he don't need a chrony :p

Thanks for the conformation. I have 5000 of them so I was hoping....
|
...now if I could get powder...
