Hello from the Kansas City, MO area
big 1911 enthusiast joining up here, the 1911 has become the ONLY handgun that interests me much at all but still have a P22 and an XDm 9mm that I enjoy.
I'm an experimental pistolsmith, there's so much information on the Web, I love having a project and working with my hands like this. A willingness to learn the hard way is paramount. I have an FFL 03/C&R which I love MilSurps and the discount from Brownell's has been worth more than anything! I've got 13yrs active Air Force service behind me, I've spent time as a civilian armorer in an MP Battalion, also. So far I've completely rebuilt a Springfield GI, the frame and slide are all that remain of my first 1911 and is my cherished baby, something I hope to give my Son someday and is now my CCW. Also have a stainless PT1911AR that in spite of the reputation has been a superb pistol. It's also been heavily modified. I have a Caspian frame and slide on order for my mid summer project.
