I am hoping to "re-create" the 1911 Springfield Champion to strictly a bad breath distance carry gun. All shooting will be point shooting, no sights. My question is:
Can I remove the sights and have the frame welded where the front and rear sight mount, then have the weld ground perfectly smooth before re-finishing the gun. I may flat top the gun, that is easy enough. But the welding has me concerned. Anyone have experience with this?
