Default What Gun Lube do you Use and Why??

Lively conversation tonight on the chat board... some swear by Mobil 1, some by Gun Butter... and others... so I'm starting an educational (edumacational for some of you) post. The question is two fold:

1. What gun lube do you use on your semi autos (all inclusive) and.....

2. Why do you like them.

That's it. I'm really interested... so I appreciate some additional insight. I'll start with the next post.

I currently use Break Free CLP. Hoppes 9 to clean, then Break Free to lubricate.

Why? Well.. because thats the way I was taught. I'm open to correction and new learning. So.... it's YOUR turn.

I was tought the same thing and really like CLP....its good stuff, can not go wrong with #9 either. If I get something I can deal with that stuff I will great out the EEZOX if I have too. Kinda spendy and smells really bad but works really well.

I've been using Gun Butter. Seems to work really well, and the long needle on the bottle really works for me.

I have recently switched over to Frog Lube. http://www.froglube.com/roothome.htm

I like that it is not petro based and doesn't stink up the house. (I can now clean guns in the kitchen with less grief than before) I applied it as directed and couldn't believe the junk I got out of guns that I thought were clean. It leaves a cost on the gun that turns liquid as the gun is fired. My limited experience with it was been good, but the reports of others who have shot thousands of rounds between applications are impressive.

Best wishes.

I use SlipStream grease and oil. It's a tad expensive, but in my opinion, there's nothing better. I know one of the guys that created it - if there were enough interest, I might be able to get a discount for a bulk order.

Same here with the Hoppes No.9 of cleaning and FP10 for lube. I use this method because it works.

I've considered trying out the mobil 1 but just can't bring myself to do it.
