I settled on Winchester 230grain Premium SXT JHPs. Basically, they're a different-colored Black Talon. Since Black Talons are Collector's level cartridges(Last I checked they were going for about $65.00 a box), the SXTs are the next best thing.

As for reloading, I've tried so far; Hornady Crit.Def. bullets, Hornady XTPs, Gold Dots and some Federal bullet. All failed one way or another. None of the mentioned bullets gave decent, consistant performance, even when driven at 900+FPS.

Yes, I do use Winchester's 230 grain PDX1 load. My serious handloads use Gold Dots and XTPs, both weighing 230 grains.

I should now have enough milk jugs for some expansion tests with them, and will report the results here.

Cool! Let us know. In the meantime I'm going to scarf a few boxes. They're still in stock at Brownell's

I ordered 10 boxes of them while ago, 4 the first time and then another 6. I feel like any .45 ammo that Dave recommends has to be good stuff. I'd been wanting some more SD ammo anyhow, I found these in stock at Brownells and jumped on them.

I use Hornady Crit Def in my .45 and apparently some very pricey Black Talon in my 9mm(4 clips - wait magazines worth).
