I bought two of them about 28 or 29 years ago, I hated both of them. I was stupid enough to buy the second one after the fact. I'm pretty skinny,(5'11, 130 pounds),I just wasn't strong enough to handle the recoil. I got a scope cut over my eye also. I shot one on them resting on the hood of a newly repainted 1973 454 Chevy pickup, it blew off a stripe of paint all the way across the hood. For some people I'm sure the gun would be just great, just not for small people. I never even got them sighted in, they kicked so damn hard.

7mm, Texas 22. I love my 7mm mags. They are very flat shooting. No noticeable recoil. I still have them but have pretty much hung them up in favor of 338 for hunting. You could probably shoot all the way across Florida with one.

Depending on the make and model of the rifle as well as condition, I will consider it. Saw some videos of a guy shooting over 1000 yds on a steel plate, pretty impressive.

With the right barrel twist rate, 175 grain bullets can be used, which have great BC for long range shooting. If ya like recoil, go for it. If you don't, and don't plan to reach out to beyond 1000 yards, a 308 Win should be more than adequate.

Shooting mine became tolerable only after I replaced the standard hard rubber recoil pad with a modern soft one.

Back when I trained with HK in the counter sniper course [ mid 90
s ], the S/S were using hand loaded 7mm to protect the prez. Their minimum set up was 700 yrds out on roof tops with those rifles/caliber.
