Hmmm ... you never know

Actually, I don't want to add another caliber but I'm all ears for .38, 9mm and .45ACP.

I think the coolest thing about the lightweight Ruger is the titanium insert in the feed ramp in the alloy frame.

Someone has their wires crossed.

All single stack 1911's use standard (whatever that is) 1911 mags.

The length of the gripframe determines which length (full size, or Officer's/compact) of 1911 mag must be used.

The SA EMP isn't a true 1911, as dimensions have been scaled down. It uses proprietary mags and grips.

I can attest to this, My FIL got one of the first ones and I like the gun. We were shooting it and I tried to use my Wilsocom Combate mags in it and it was a no go. Tried a Kimber mag, no go. Only the Ruger Factory mags work in his. I just figured Ruger did something in the design that would not let you use any mags but theirs but maybe there is something wrong with his. Don't know I guess?

I'd pull the mag catch and see that if there's some extra material from the casting on the catch in the area that mates up with the locking notch in the mag.

Did you try depressing the mag catch any while trying to seat the "other" mags?

In comparing the Ruger mags to the others; is there anything different about the locking notch, or the top left edge of the mag body?

I know a couple of guys with the full size Ruger. When one of them asked me about magazines for it, I pointed him to Tripp Research.

I have now created a "magazine snob". He will only use Tripp Research mags.
