Dropping the slide on the model 1911 ~ The truth?

I don't see a difference in dropping the slide and slingshoting it home.

Anyone else get annoyed watching the vid and this dude dropping the slide on every word? I got his point the first time he did it, the other times were excessive.

I use the slide stop/release on all my pistols. Wear and tear is part of owning a shooter.
