Pistol- m&p 22... Great full size 22 for a trainer or plinker, eats everything.
Rifle- 10/22 of whatever veriety. PS: I have heard the new Ruger American is a goid bolt action for the money. Comes in 22 as well.

I had a 10/22 and sold it. Great gun but in my heart I'm a handgun man. Any long guns I have are what you might call fighting arms. If I get another .22 down the road it will be a Ruger Mark III. Iconic pistol in it's own right with a grip angle that mimics a 1911. The options to trick them out are nearly as endless as the 1911 as well.

Is that the one I was thinking of when I said Mark III?

Maybe:
22/45 is the version that kind of sort of resembles the use of a 1911, plastic frames and has lots of options. the MK series now on MKIII are the all steel pistols resembles a Luger to me. BOTH are super good guns, I just prefer the 22/45....

Thanks, that's the one! Same family of guns but with 1911 ergonomics ... kinda/sorta.

The Ruger 10/22 is probably the most well know 22 rifle on the market, I have 4. I like it but I like my Remington Model 552 Speedmaster as it takes short, long and long rifle 22 ammo. My all time favorite 22 pistol has to be my Baby AutoMag. (BAM) RIA manufactures a 22/45 1911 which consists of a 22LR top end and also a 45ACP top end. My next rimfire 1911 will be one of the new RIA XT 22 Magnums when available!!
I also have 2 Heritage Arms Rough Rider 22/22 Magnum revolvers which for an inexpensive gun are hard to beat. As far as a 22 revolver I would also check into an older Dan Wesson 722. For a suppressed 22 you cannot go wrong with the AWC Amphibian S which is based on a Ruger Mark ll.

![]() All this serious contemplation when all you need to know is .22LR is a fun plinking round. Not a life saving or survival or something you need a serious gun for. Get something to blast away and have a blast in the process. The STG-44 22 will be fun! |
