Default Sigs, and one of them days.

Started today off well, with a tension headache. So i had some coffee and a crap load of water and headed off to the range to shoot my new sig p226 elite stainless.

The trigger is buttery smooth, but about 452 metric tons to pull. I already knew i was going to have it lightened and an action job performed. I picked the pistol up used. The previous owner had special ordered it and only put about 50 rounds through it. He then complained and the shop took the gun back minus 15% stocking fee. So, I got a good deal.

21ft 50 rounds. Honestly everything was golden the first 50 rounds. more than golden. It is a smooth, dream to shoot pistol on target. The change from da/sa was just wonderful even given it's 14lb da trigger pull.

here it is at the 75 round mark. Failure to extract fully.

The second 50 rounds i was shooting at 50' here is my group at 50'

during this 2nd and 3rd box of 50 rounds i had multiple failures to eject. Grip was not an issue with it. Just would not eject random cases.

going into the 4th box of ammo

even with the above failures this is my group at 30' on the last box of ammo

Left target is 1st bullet of the box, the right target is the remaining 49

A little bit more info. Ammo was 115grn Independence range ammo. Good stuff, no complaints in any of my other firearms. The grip was thumbs forward under the slide stop and take down lever. The gun was well lubed and racked before range day. My conclusion is that the recoil spring and or extractor spring are out of wack.

I have an email into greys guns about an action job to lesson the DA trigger pull. I will add to the inquiry about the FTE.

The other gun, My venerable sig mosquito. 14k through it. Today is the day the barrel died. I am happily working on my DA/SA trigger pull with suppressor first thing this morning.

I did not get a squib load, not at least in the audible way. The rounds were fired in two shot strings. DA/SA with at least one second apart. Again i was working on trigger pull. I detected no audible difference. The above happened mid mag about 6 shots in. I was unable to retract the slide or drive it home. I brought the pistol home and disassembled it, to find....

Sig is sending me a prepaid shipping label and it is going back for repairs. Sigh, very sad to see the little guy go for a while.

Sorry to read about your less than spectacular day.

I hope the extractor issue is easily fixed and Sig makes good on the barrel.

Hate it when good guns go bad.

It is what it is. The p226 is new, stainless. I have a sneaky suspicion that is to blame for most of its woes. The mosquito had 14k through it. A air soft 22, well it was borrowed time.
